New Visa System for FIFA World Cup Ticket Holders
As we edge closer to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which kicks off on June 11, the State Department is rolling out a system aimed at helping ticket holders who need a visa. The initiative, named FIFA PASS, will allow these holders to access priority visa bookings before the tournament begins.
In order to qualify, visa applicants must demonstrate their eligibility and provide proof that they plan to leave the U.S. after the tournament wraps up on July 19. However, just scheduling a visa interview does not guarantee approval. Each applicant will be subject to security checks and thorough vetting to ensure their eligibility.
To facilitate this process, the State Department announced it will deploy 500 additional staff members to assist with applications. President Trump highlighted FIFA PASS back in November, stating that the State and Homeland Security departments are committed to making it easier for soccer fans worldwide to travel to the U.S. next summer, while still ensuring proper vetting.
Trump expressed his aspiration for the 2026 World Cup to be an extraordinary success, also noting record-breaking ticket sales. FIFA President Gianni Infantino mentioned that they anticipate 5 million to 10 million visitors from different parts of the globe to enjoy the World Cup in America.
Infantino further remarked that with the FIFA PASS, they can ensure that legitimate fans who have purchased tickets can come to the U.S. and experience the tournament comfortably, starting with obtaining their visas.
Trump is urging World Cup ticket holders from around the world to apply for U.S. visas as soon as possible.
