Steak’n Shake to Introduce Coca-Cola with Real Cane Sugar
Steak’n Shake has made an announcement that they will soon be adding Coca-Cola sweetened with real cane sugar to their menu. This move seems aligned with a broader trend in the food industry towards healthier options. The fast-food chain stated, “Starting on August 1st, Steak N Shake will be offering Coca-Cola in a glass bottle with real cane sugar.” Well, it looks like they’re quite pleased about it, saying, “America is the best!”
In a related announcement, President Donald Trump mentioned that Coca-Cola has committed to producing “real cane sugar using coke” in the U.S. He remarked, “I’ve been talking to Coca-Cola about using real cane sugar in US Cola, and they agreed to do so,” during a recent update on True Society. His enthusiasm was clear when he expressed gratitude towards Coca-Cola, describing it as a positive step for the brand.
Steak’n Shake has already begun shifting its operations to reflect this new focus on quality ingredients, having switched their method of frying to utilize beef tallow instead of seed oils. This suggestion originally came from health advocate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who has been vocal about removing artificial dyes and enhancing the food supply in the United States. A number of companies, such as JM Smucker Co., Nestlé, and Kraft Heinz, have joined this movement.
Kennedy recently shared that approximately 35% of the U.S. food industry has vowed to eliminate artificial dyes from their products. He remarked, “We started discussing the elimination of dyes and harmful chemicals from food about five and a half months ago, and the response has been extraordinary.” This was part of his celebration regarding the International Dairy Food Association’s commitment to eliminate artificial ingredients from ice cream. Kennedy emphasized the industry’s dedication, stating that around 35% of American food producers are on board with this initiative.
Interestingly, he also noted that this effort reflects the values of existing organic and healthy food sectors, which are already focused on being chemical-free. It’s a significant moment for the industry, embodying a shift toward healthier food options that many consumers are likely to appreciate.
