Vehicle Recall by Stellantis

Stellantis, the parent company of Chrysler, announced on Monday that they are recalling nearly 1 million vehicles across the globe. The recall is due to an over-the-air software issue that could hinder the proper display of rearview camera images.

In total, around 955,000 vehicles from Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, and Ram are included in this recall. Specifically, more than 848,000 of these are in the U.S., spanning various models from the 2026 and 2027 model years. This includes Chrysler Pacifica, Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid, and Voyager, along with Dodge Charger, Jeep Cherokee, Compass, Gladiator, Grand Cherokee, Grand Wagoneer, Wrangler, and Ram 1500, 2500, and ProMaster vehicles.

Additionally, about 107,000 vehicles in countries like Canada and Mexico are impacted, with approximately 83,000 in Canada, 8,000 in Mexico, and 16,000 in markets beyond North America.

If drivers can’t see the rearview camera display, Stellantis advises them to rely on their rearview and side mirrors while reversing.

The automaker stated that they have not been made aware of any accidents or injuries associated with this recall.

Owners will receive over-the-air software updates and be notified on their vehicle’s media screen when these updates are available. Notices regarding the recall will be sent out next month, containing further details and guidance.

It’s worth noting that in 2014, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration implemented a regulation mandating that all new cars weighing under 10,000 pounds must feature rear-view technology by May 2018. The regulation was established after statistics showed that light vehicle rear-end collisions result in an average of 210 annual deaths and 15,000 injuries in the U.S., with children under five years old accounting for 31% of those fatalities.
