In a recent episode of the Paul Finebaum Show, he maintained a cautious stance, identifying as a moderate who distances himself from the extreme viewpoints of both sides. While he hasn’t made a final decision about a presidential run, he remains open to the idea.
He shared his frustrations with American politics, stating, “I hate the status quo. We really need to introduce some common sense.” Smith also mentioned, with a grin, that he has no interest in being a politician, especially after learning that it could mean sacrificing his financial security.
His pastor in Brooklyn, A.R. Bernard, advised him to keep options open regarding a potential run, highlighting that one never knows what might happen in the future.
Smith criticized current politicians for failing to reach common ground, emphasizing the need for compromise and civility in discussions, suggesting that the current political climate is too divisive and immature.
He didn’t specify which party he’d align with if he decided to run, expressing concern over how politicians often foster division rather than unity. He believes that, at heart, Americans share more similarities than differences, although it’s challenging to see that amidst a binary political system.
Identifying as a moderate, he explained his views on various issues. He mentioned that he supports former President Trump’s border policies, argues against claims about the economy, and affirmed his reliance on law enforcement for personal safety.
Smith recognizes that his views don’t fit neatly into conventional categories. While he aligns with some moderate Democratic positions, he firmly opposes far-left ideologies, expressing pride in being a capitalist and reinforcing his commitment to the existing economic structures.
