Stephen Colbert Teases CBS at the 2025 Emmy Awards
At the recent 2025 Emmy Awards, Stephen Colbert made light of his former network, CBS, in a humorous turn of events.
After receiving a warm standing ovation, the host of “The Late Show” quipped, “Is someone hiring me while I have your attention?” The audience erupted in laughter.
He continued, addressing the star-studded crowd, saying, “I brought my resume with me tonight,” but added, “I didn’t manage to update my headshot.”
Colbert then pulled out an outdated headshot, joking, “I think it still works,” though he noted he only had “the thing itself.” He later approached Harrison Ford, asking if he could get the iconic director, Steven Spielberg, to take a look at it.
During the ceremony, Colbert presented the award for Best Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, which went to Seth Rogen for his role in “Studio.”
In July, Colbert revealed that “The Late Show” would conclude in 2026 after over three decades of airing. CBS stated that the cancellation was a financial decision, yet some speculated that Colbert’s frequent critiques of the current administration may have influenced the show’s fate.
On the red carpet, Colbert was asked what fans could anticipate in the remaining months of the show. He replied, “We have nine months left, so we’re going to have a really good time.”
He reflected on the demands of the show, explaining, “I mean, this show consumes everything every day.” As he participated in the Outstanding Talk Series category at the Emmy Awards, Colbert expressed hope for a win while honoring those who have shown him the ropes in the industry.
