Colbert announced the Chicago show in April. statement“I’m so excited to be broadcasting from this beautiful auditorium. I started my career in Chicago and I’m excited to see where I’ll end it there.”

Last month, Colbert covered the Republican National Convention from the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City, rather than from Milwaukee, where the convention was held.

“Donald Trump is gearing up for the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee next week, and The Late Show will be live from there!” Colbert told viewers on the show. “All next week, we’ll be bringing you updates on the events that will leave you disappointed but not surprised by your brother-in-law’s appearance.”

Colbert previously hosted the show live during the political conventions in 2016 and 2020.
