It's hard to believe that it was only four years ago that President Joe Biden was elected on a promise to unite the country. After the devastating coronavirus death toll, lockdowns, and riots in the streets of major cities, Americans wanted to be united by a unified national purpose.
Oh, that never happened. Instead, Biden and his left-wing allies got drunk on power and pushed the Democratic Party even further to the left. This has turned half the country away from standing up for destructive and unpopular progressive policies on every issue. huge debt to rampant inflation From transgenderism to electric car mandates.
The country was only torn further apart. (Related: Bob Ehrlich: Let them eat cake)
Will President-elect Donald Trump learn from these mistakes and become a president who embraces traditional American ideals and unifies the country? While his “Make America Great Again” policy certainly has its rough edges, if presented correctly and guided by a message of hope rather than malice, President Trump has an idealistic plan that most Americans can accept. We will be able to come up with policies that will help.
The way to do that is for President Trump, who is celebrating his 250th birthday, to introduce a new theme of American patriotism. This should be a red, white, and blue message centered around a new appreciation and celebration of American virtue and greatness.
What better way to unite a country? It should be an extension of President Reagan's message that America is.A shining city on a hill“and”lighthouse of freedom” to the world.
Which one are we?
For at least a generation, and perhaps two, our schools and universities have degraded America's moral standing. We have been told that we should be ashamed of our nation's past, rather than proud of its founding and its accomplishments in spreading freedom and free enterprise across the globe.
The far left magnifies America's failures, especially slavery and racism, rather than the magnitude of America's successes and virtues. Foreigners visiting the United States often cannot believe how obsessed our media, entertainment industry, and intellectual class are with our country's moral failings.
Biden was especially guilty of this when he unfairly accused the United States. systemically racist country.
No, Joe.
America can make a strong claim to be the world's greatest, and perhaps only, multiracial success story today. The melting pot is not just a history book fantasy. It's real. of rapid increase In interracial and intercultural marriage making Racism is almost obsolete. The rapid increase in incomes of Asians, Hispanics, and to a lesser extent blacks should be celebrated.
Recent polls show that the public does indeed appreciate America's greatness. The only group that does not do so is the ideologically isolated, cultured and “well-educated” elite. A majority of Americans of all races and income categories believe that America is “the greatest country on Earth.” But many white liberal elites reject this idea.
Another example: White conservatives and Hispanics categorically reject the idea that America is systemically racist. According to To Pew Research Center“About 6 in 10 black adults say they are racist” is a problem in America today. But it seems that many white liberals also believe this.
Is there still racism in America? Of course, yes. However, it is not “systemic” and the country's racial polarization is becoming less polarized over the years.
There is something sinister about the American ingenuity, innovation, and technological prowess that brought the world into the modern era and helped reduce poverty rates by 90%. Damn those devils Thomas Edison and Henry Ford.
Fortunately, these are the views of a class of modern intellectuals that produced nothing and instead sowed the seeds of discontent and division. Yes, they have a right to hold accountable America First ideals, but they don't have to allow those ideals to pollute the minds of our children in the classroom.
This is an extension of President Reagan's metaphor of America as a “shining city on a hill” and a “beacon of freedom” to the whole world. That is true today more than ever, and Trumpnomics will make it even truer.
