Forbes Urges Stronger Stance Against Iran

Steve Forbes recently emphasized the need for the U.S. to intensify efforts to dismantle the Iranian regime, stating that maintaining free passage through the Strait of Hormuz is a crucial American responsibility.

The pressure on Iran hasn’t relented, with U.S. military actions targeting Iranian positions for the ninth consecutive day as of Sunday. Forbes, the chairman of Forbes Media and a former presidential candidate, spoke at Freedom Fest in Las Vegas and shared his insights with FOX News Digital regarding U.S.-Iran relations and the past administration’s foreign policies.

Forbes Supports Trump on Communism Warning

Forbes referenced historical American priorities, saying, “Since Thomas Jefferson’s time, a core part of U.S. foreign policy has been ensuring freedom of the seas. Our commitment to navigation freedom led us into the War of 1812.” He further argued that the Strait of Hormuz, much like the South China Sea, should remain accessible to all.

“Commercial vessels must navigate without restrictions, tolls, or regulations,” he added. Forbes also indicated that effective airpower could suffice, reducing the need for ground troops. However, he acknowledged that sometimes direct confrontation, like with the Barbary pirates, becomes necessary.

Two U.S. Soldiers Killed in Recent Iranian Attack

“Airpower plays a vital role; when executed correctly, it can replace the need for boots on the ground. Yet, as demonstrated before, on-the-ground action might be unavoidable. Our forces, alongside the Israeli military, can help dismantle this oppressive regime, supporting Iranian elements yearning for change,” he asserted, stressing that the cessation of hostilities shouldn’t signal a retreat from addressing the Iranian government.

In Forbes’ view, international navigation rights are a red line that must be defended, stating, “If we fail to uphold these principles of freedom, we risk losing them. Ronald Reagan was correct—freedom must be safeguarded for future generations.”

He concluded that the era of open diplomatic discussions with Iran has passed, urging the Trump administration to apply increasing pressure and complimenting recent decisions regarding Ukraine. “It’s time to end Iran’s threats. No more ceasefires. Dispose of that oppressive regime,” he said. “I’m also pleased about the decision to provide Patriot missiles to Ukraine; it should yield positive outcomes.”
