Steve Kerr compares Jimmy Butler to Andre Iguodala ahead of playoffs

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr praised Jimmy Butler on the eve of the 2025 NBA playoffs.

Kerr praised Butler’s abilities in the postseason, comparing him on Friday to four-time NBA champion Andre Iguodara.

“We don’t use “Playoff Jimmy”” Carr told the game on 95.7. “Playoff Jimmy” appears on your own. ”

“Jimmy reminds me of a lot of Andre Iguodara from a personality standpoint,” Kerr continued. “He hardly even wants to score. Andre really loved the nuances of the game. He loved to open up others. He loved to manipulate defense. I feel the same way about Jimmy.

“He really loves the game, he loves chess games, and he’s a much better scorer than Andre. But whatever he needs to win tonight, he has a similar mentality: “I want to give the ball more than my teammates than I want to film.” So it’s a truly beautiful mentality. ”

In two different stints, Iguodara played an important role for the Warriors, bringing the NBA Finals MVP to memories in 2015.

Carr’s comments come a few days after Butler scored a game-high 38 points to help him defeat the Grizzlies in Tuesday’s Play-In Tournament.

After trading with the Warriors in February, Butler averaged 17.9 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.9 assists in 30 regular-season games, helping the team enter playoff competition during the final stretch of the season.

Butler, 35, was sent to Golden State after a season-long argument with heat management.

The mood of the five-time All-NBA players shifted shortly after being dealt with by the warriors, promising a championship to fans in the near future.

“I’m ready to win, I’m ready for work and I’m ready to hold a show for Y’all,” he said in a post shared on Warriors’ X account.

“Let’s get it. The championship is coming soon.”

The Warriors will hold their first round matchup with the Rockets on Sunday.
