Recently, Warriors coach Steve Kerr captured attention online when he spotted someone who looked remarkably like him seated behind the bench during a preseason game earlier this month.
Pablo Torre, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, has become a notable figure in sports journalism, particularly for his work regarding the Clippers and their salary cap strategies.
Torre addressed this lookalike phenomenon by facilitating an introduction between the two men, both named Steve, an event he recounted during a recent episode of “Pablo Torre Finds Out” released on Thursday.
In a group chat, Torre brought the two Steves together, and they appeared to have a FaceTime call as well.
“Steve, we finally meet,” Kerr remarked.
“It’s an honor to be part of this summit. The Steve summit,” added Gillis, the doppelganger.
Torre then shared some text messages exchanged between the two. Kerr complimented Gillis, saying, “Hey, Steve, has anyone ever told you that you are a stunningly handsome man? :)”
Later, Torre displayed a screenshot of another text from Kerr, suggesting they should visit the polls together on November 3rd to perhaps stir up some amusing commentary, jokingly stating, “We might be the lead story on Breitbart the next day as they question the validity of our elections. ‘HE VOTED TWICE!!!!!!’”
While narrating the events, Torre mentioned, “When I last left the Steves, they seemed to be coordinating to vote at the same time during the midterms, aiming to create an illusion of voter fraud. They both agreed on this via text.”
“I’m honestly not sure if they were serious or just having fun with it. I guess we’ll find out on Tuesday,” Torre concluded.
Kerr, of course, was joking around. But perhaps, just maybe, the voting officials in the Bay Area might want to keep a close eye on two similar-looking Steves next week.
