Strangely clothed suspect taken into custody after wealthy individual is discovered deceased in beach residence

Fatal Incident in Hermosa Beach Home

A suspect, dressed unusually, is accused of murdering a 92-year-old billionaire developer in his beachfront home in Southern California. This incident led to a tense standoff with law enforcement that lasted for several hours.

According to Hermosa Beach police, officers were dispatched to a residence on The Strand after concerns were raised about an elderly resident who hadn’t been seen for a number of days. The call came in a little after 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.

What began as a standard welfare check turned chaotic when officers, accompanied by the property manager, entered the home and encountered a person inside claiming to be armed and uncooperative.

SWAT teams and crisis negotiators from various agencies arrived at the scene and worked diligently for hours, aiming to secure a peaceful resolution. Ultimately, the suspect was taken into custody roughly seven hours after the initial call.

Once a search warrant was obtained, officers discovered the body of an adult male inside the residence.

The victim was identified as Demetrius Doukouros, a longtime developer who lived alone at the waterfront property. Authorities noted that the cause of death is under investigation, pending more information. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau is now overseeing the case.

Reports indicate the victim’s body displayed signs of decomposition at the time it was found.

The suspect, identified as Elanor Beaulieu, aged 39, is recorded as male in jail documents. He is being held on suspicion of murder, with bail set at over $2 million. Notably, he has previous bookings under a different name.

During the arrest, Beaulieu was noted to be wearing a black suit, tie, fedora, and sunglasses, creating quite the striking image.

The nature of the relationship between the suspect and the victim remains unclear, and no motive has been disclosed by law enforcement.

There were reports in a local Facebook group from someone claiming to live in the building, stating that residents hadn’t been seen in about a week, and that a strong odor was emanating from the home. However, these claims haven’t been independently verified.

Efforts to obtain more details from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the Coroner’s office are ongoing, particularly regarding the victim’s identification, cause of death, and any possible connection to the suspect.
