'Stranger Things' actor Millie Bobby Brown delights charming NYC children with an acting class: 'She’s so British'

Star Power in the Classroom

Millie Bobby Brown, the star of “Stranger Things,” recently surprised a group of second graders on New York City’s Upper West Side with a memorable acting lesson.

One young boy, named Prince, expressed his disbelief after the lesson, saying, “I saw her in person today. I know she’s not real…right?” It was, after all, a moment many could only dream of.

Brown’s visit was part of the web series “Celebrity Substitute,” where celebrities step into classrooms to teach various skills, like making music videos or fashion tips. The ten students were taken aback when they entered the room and discovered the actress waiting near the stage, leading to their joyful shouts of “Hello, Milly!”

The 22-year-old actress opened the session by asking if the kids knew any basic acting terms. However, her English accent posed a bit of a challenge for them. One student, Hurley, joked, “She’s so British, you can smell her accent,” as he went on to share his own acting experiences with her.

During the class, Brown made the lesson interactive, demonstrating how to “pretend” to ride a roller coaster, emphasizing that acting often revolves around imagination rather than reality. She taught the kids improvisation and scene-building techniques, encouraging them to express deeper emotions.

Amidst the laughter and giggles, some children also inquired about Brown’s relationship with Jake Bon Jovi, which seemed to capture their curiosity more than the acting lesson itself. Joseph, a spirited redhead, shared, “The reason I want to get married is because I want someone to be with me all the time!” His honesty was both sweet and amusing.

The excitement didn’t stop there. The surprise continued when brand new stage equipment for their drama club was revealed, much to the children’s delight. Amazon generously donated mirrors, lighting, costumes, and other film gear to the school.

As the lesson wrapped up, the joy on the children’s faces was unmistakable. One teacher, Toni Anne, highlighted the significance of the moment, saying, “This is natural because they have worked so hard. This is for them.”
