Trump’s Airstrikes on Iranian Nuclear Facilities
President Donald Trump stated that US airstrikes targeting three significant Iranian nuclear sites were both “hard and accurate,” resulting in what he described as “moral” damage. In a post, Trump noted that the impacts on Iran’s nuclear locations were “monologous.” He commended the military for showcasing remarkable skills and expressed gratitude for their efforts.
During a speech to the nation on Saturday evening, Trump elaborated on a “massive precision strike” aimed at dismantling vital nuclear facilities in Iran. He specifically highlighted that the primary nuclear enrichment facility had been “completely wiped out.” However, reports from various sources, including some Israeli officials, contradicted his claim. The New York Times indicated that the Fordow site sustained significant damage but wasn’t entirely destroyed.
Israeli forces believe that the Fordow nuclear site was indeed damaged following the US strike but has not been fully annihilated. Two Israeli officials with knowledge of the situation noted that it appears Iran has relocated uranium-related equipment from the site. Additionally, a senior US official acknowledged that while the American attack impacted the site severely, it didn’t eliminate the facility entirely; they remarked that even extensive bombing wouldn’t entirely eradicate it.
In another post, Trump implied that if the existing Iranian government fails to restore greatness to the nation, it might be time for a government change. He acknowledged the political sensitivity around such terminology, questioning why a change wouldn’t be warranted if the Iranian regime is not succeeding.
Trump’s statement included a remark from Secretary of Defense Pete Hegses, who clarified that this operation wasn’t about altering the government structure. Hegses emphasized that the mission aimed to neutralize the risks posed by Iran’s nuclear ambitions while ensuring the safety of US military forces and allies, particularly Israel.
