Sudanese Migrant Taken into Custody Following Stabbing Incident Involving Three Individuals in France

A Sudanese migrant was shot and arrested by police in Clermont-Ferrand, France, on Sunday, resulting in injuries to at least three others.

The 34-year-old man allegedly stabbed a neighbor before attacking another pedestrian around 2:30 PM local time. Upon police arrival, he supposedly “charged at officers with a knife,” according to reports.

A police officer, witnessing a colleague being assaulted, initially shot the suspect in the arm and then in the abdomen and side as he advanced.

“The full extent of injuries to both the victim and the Sudanese assailant remains unclear,” said local prosecutor Eric Serfas.

The prosecution noted, “Currently, there is no evidence indicating the terrorist nature of the incident.”

The alleged attacker had prior convictions for insurrection and violence against police, among other offenses.

Serfas also mentioned that, at the time of the attack, the man was under “psychiatric supervision.”

Despite his criminal history, the migrant had not been deported from France, a matter that has sparked significant political debate as the presidential election approaches.

The local branch of the National Assembly Against Mass Immigration stated, “Another incident has occurred. In the city center. In a public place. Clermont-Ferrand is no longer untouched. Violence and insecurity are becoming part of daily life for residents. Places that should feel safe have become zones of threat.”

The RN party emphasized the need for a “considerable increase in police presence in neighborhoods and city centers,” along with enhanced surveillance in high-risk areas, stricter knife laws, and more frequent police patrols in busy locations.

Reports indicate that the city has been experiencing a surge in crime over the past year, attributed to conflicts among drug lords.
