The 2024 presidential election is heating up ahead of the ABC News debate between former President Trump and Vice President Harris scheduled for September 10.
Harris arrived in Pittsburgh on Thursday to continue preparations for the upcoming debates. Her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D), was on the campaign trail interacting with voters in the Keystone State. Trump finished up a town hall with Fox News' Sean Hannity and addressed the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) National Board of Directors, where he accepted the endorsement of the nation's largest police union.
The upcoming debate between the candidates is likely to be a focus of Sunday talk shows this week.
This week, three left-leaning senators will appear on different talk shows to discuss the upcoming ABC News debate.
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) is expected to appear on NBC's “Meet the Press” to talk about how Harris can succeed in the debate and reiterate his message on how to beat Trump in November's presidential election.
Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pennsylvania) is scheduled to appear on CNN's “State of the Union” and will likely discuss how the vice president has been received in his home state and how he is likely to perform in the Sept. 10 debate.
Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pennsylvania) will appear on CNN's “Inside Politics Sunday” to discuss his reelection campaign against Republican rival Dave McCormick, and will also discuss how the vice president will perform in the upcoming debates.
As Harris continues her campaign, recent polls suggest the race for the White House is likely to be close, and Republicans have continued to criticize her for backtracking on some of the policy positions she held during the 2020 presidential primary.
Some Republicans will talk about Harris' campaign.
Nikki Haley, a former Republican presidential candidate who later backed Trump, is scheduled to appear on CBS' “Face the Nation” and is expected to talk about both candidates' campaigns in the run up to the debate.
Former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), who said she would vote for Harris this week, is scheduled to appear on ABC's “This Week” to discuss her decision to vote for the vice president and how she will help the campaign in the remaining 60 days of the election.
