Vice President Harris is facing a decision next week on who she will choose as her running mate. She is expected to campaign alongside the selected candidate. As speculation heats up over who Harris will choose, the topic is likely to be a focus of talk shows this Sunday.
The vice president recently said he hasn’t decided “yet” who to add to his shortlist.
Harris is also likely to be a topic of conversation after joining Biden in welcoming three Americans released from a Russian prison earlier this week in the biggest prisoner swap since the Cold War.
Sean Fain, president of the United Auto Workers union, is expected to appear on CBS’ “Face the Nation” to discuss the union’s support for Harris and her criticism of former President Trump.
Trump and his running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), will appear on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures.” The two Republicans are expected to discuss the state of the 2024 presidential race and how they plan to challenge Ms. Harris, who was formally nominated as the Democratic candidate on Friday.
Trump may also talk about the prisoner swap that led to the release of Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich, reporter Ars Kurmaseva and former Marine Paul Whelan. He called the news a “victory” for Russian President Vladimir Putin and questioned the details.
White House Deputy National Security Adviser John Finer is scheduled to appear on ABC’s “This Week,” CBS’ “Face the Nation” and CNN’s “State of the Union,” where he is also likely to discuss the prisoner swap.
Wall Street Journal Publisher Almar Latour will also appear on ABC’s “This Week,” and the Journal’s deputy editor, Paul Beckett, will appear on CBS. The two will discuss the release of his colleague, reporter Gershkovich, who was instrumental in securing his release.
White House national security spokesman John Kirby is scheduled to appear on “Fox News Sunday” to discuss the prisoner exchange and rising tensions in the Middle East.
Kirby also pushed back against Vance’s credit for the prisoner swap with Trump, saying there was “no evidence whatsoever” that the deal was made because Russia was targeting Trump as the election winner.
Rep. Ryan Zinke (R-Mo.), a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, is scheduled to appear on NewsNation’s “The Hill Sunday” to discuss the prisoner swap.
