Sunny Hostin criticizes pro-life gun owners for being inconsistent

Views on Pro-Life Hypocrisy

Sunny Hostin, a known liberal voice on “The View,” recently pointed out the contradiction in someone claiming to be pro-life while also owning an “AR-15.” This statement came during a discussion on Thursday that highlighted the complexities of life and death beliefs.

In a related context, Pope Leo XIV emphasized during a Tuesday interview that one cannot truly claim to be anti-abortion if they also support inhumane treatment of immigrants. His comments made quite a stir, especially among the hosts of “The View.”

Joy Behar supported the Pope’s statement, saying, “I think he’s right. If you’re pro-choice but favor penalties, at least you’re consistent. But if you’re anti-choice and support the death penalty, that’s a contradiction.”

Hostin, too, shared her views, stating that she aligns her beliefs as a Catholic, being opposed to abortion, the death penalty, and gun violence. “I think I’m consistent in my beliefs. I lean more toward a humanist approach,” she expressed.

When pressed by Behar, she reiterated her stance against the death penalty in all instances. “There’s definitely hypocrisy in those labeled ‘pro-life’ but who would still support executions,” she asserted.

Throughout her appearances, Hostin has maintained her anti-abortion stance, while also supporting Democrats who proffer abortion rights. “I have faced backlash for my views, but there’s a clear divide between government and religious beliefs,” she noted recently. Despite her convictions, she has been vocal against the dismantling of Roe v. Wade.

Moreover, Hostin touched on the topic of IVF and how it relates to contemporary discussions about life choices, showcasing her ongoing engagement in these vital issues.
