Frank Vogel may not have time to clean his office.
Sands is Plans to hire Mike Budenholzer Less than 24 hours after it was announced that the team would fire Vogel after one season, The Athletic reported that he has been named the next head coach.
The deal is reportedly close to eight figures per year.
Budenholzer, who led the Bucks to the NBA title in 2021, was fired by Milwaukee after they were upset by the Heat in last season’s playoffs.
Budenholzer, 54, has been in line for several high-profile jobs over the past year, but now he’s landed one of the biggest jobs in the league.
Budenholzer takes over a Suns team led by Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal that was eliminated from the playoffs by the Timberwolves.
Suns GM James Jones said of the decision to fire Vogel, “As I stated in the May 1st press conference, team leadership, including myself, Josh Bartelstein, and the owner, reviewed the entire basketball operation and decided to “We will decide whether such changes are necessary.”
“After carefully reviewing the season, we have come to the conclusion that our team needs another head coach. We are grateful for Frank’s hard work and dedication.”
