The Suns may look very different next season.
ESPN reported that Phoenix is looking to shake things up in the offseason, including a move from the Superstar Kevin Durant, even if they do playoffs.
“The stakes are high. Unless there's a significant run in the Phoenix Suns playoffs, league sources believe there's a real change in the Phoenix coming to the Suns, and from a roster standpoint, it will probably start with Kevin Durant,” ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania said in the “NBA Countdown.”
Durant's name has come up in trade rumors ahead of the NBA trade deadline, and he has made a deal that he is likely to send him back to the Warriors.
The two NBA Finals MVPs were caught off guard by his name appearing in trade rumours, but a new report from ESPN showed that any deal involving Durant will be made on input from players.
“From my understanding, this offseason is for the Suns and Durant to work together on potential trade with candidates in the trade scenario,” Charania said. “We're looking forward to a four- to six competing team with serious involvement in Durant. He's still playing at a really high level. He's an extension even in the offseason, and as we know in the Jimmy Butler situation, the extension plays a big factor.
“But it all depends on how they compete with the Suns in the playoffs and not in the playoffs, but the other teams get rid of the team early.

Durant has been playing for Phoenix since 2023 since the Nets swapped him in the blockbuster that ended the Big Three era in Brooklyn.
The Suns did not surpass the conference semifinals in their first two seasons when Durant was in Phoenix.
