Sununu jabs Trump for ‘advanced age,’ suggests watching TV with subtitles

New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu (R) on Tuesday added another age-related insult to the 77-year-old former President Trump.

Sununu insulted the former president after Trump criticized him for frequently interviewing the New Hampshire governor on Fox News. President Trump said Sununu, who is supporting Nikki Haley in the state's Republican primary, is a “loser” who has made “really bad television.”

“As you are getting older, I find it difficult to keep up with conversations,” Sununu responded in a post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

“Maybe next time I'll try subtitles. Thanks for watching,” Sununu added.

Trump is the heavy favorite in New Hampshire over Haley, a former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations and governor of South Carolina.

“Why does Fox keep using New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu? Every time I say his name at a rally, they boo like crazy,” Trump said Tuesday on his Truth Social platform. I wrote this.

Trump went on to point out Sununu's high-profile media appearances and frequent campaign events with Haley, saying, “He's making a big deal about something and running for president without having the guts to announce it.” And my grades were really bad.”

Sununu did not run for president, but was seen as a strong candidate.

Trump added: “It's really bad television to have this loser on TV like this.”

The heated exchange occurred as New Hampshire Republican primary voters headed to the polls to cast their votes for either Trump or Haley, who have emerged as the two leading Republican candidates.

According to The Hill/Decision Desk's average Republican primary poll, Trump heads into the New Hampshire primary with a 13.9 point lead, with support at 50.8 percent, followed by Haley at 36.9 percent. Nationally, Trump has a 56-point lead, with 68% approval rating for Trump and 12% for Haley.

Sununu said Monday that Trump lacks energy and can barely read a teleprompter.
