Super Bowl champion Ricardo Lockette arrested on weapon, stolen vehicle charges

Former NFL player Ricardo Lockett was arrested in Atlanta earlier this week, according to booking records obtained by . FOX 5 ATLANTA.

Lockett faces multiple charges, including possession of a firearm or knife during the commission or intent to commit a felony, possession of a vehicle with an altered VIN, and theft by receiving stolen property.

Lockett was born in Georgia and played college football at Fort Valley State University.

He went undrafted in 2011, but ultimately signed with the Seattle Seahawks.

Lockett briefly spent time on the practice squads of the San Francisco 49ers and Chicago Bears before rejoining the Seahawks in 2013. He retired from football in 2016 due to a serious neck injury.

Lockett won the first Super Bowl in franchise history as a member of the Seahawks in 2013.

WSB-TV obtained court documents showing Georgia State Patrol troopers were conducting surveillance when Lockett was seen leaving the scene in a vehicle with suspicious tags.

Officers and Atlanta Police Department subsequently conducted a traffic enforcement operation and determined that the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX that Lockett was driving was stolen.

Lockett told authorities he bought the truck on a social media marketplace, but authorities acknowledged there were discrepancies in the information Lockett provided.

“The keys found by the FOB in Mr. Lockett’s possession belonged to a Ram Limited and did not match the RAM TRX he was driving,” officers said in a probable cause affidavit. “Further investigation revealed that the vehicle identification number displayed on the windshield and door jamb was fraudulent.”

Court records show the vehicle was reported stolen in March 2023. Authorities said Lockett had a suspended license and was found to be in possession of a handgun.

Lockett was investigated in 2014 for alleged sexual misconduct while with the 49ers. No charges were filed against him.
