As the popularity of the terrorist organization Hamas plummets, bloodshed and death continue in the Gaza Strip, and Palestinians are increasingly blaming Hamas rather than Israel.
“Hamas, I hope God destroys you as you have killed our children,” a tearful woman cried as she viewed the body of her son killed by Israeli weapons. NBC News reported..
Support for Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack on Israel that sparked the war has plummeted, with less than a fifth of Gazans now saying the heinous massacre was necessary, down from nearly half in November. According to a May survey.
The poll, conducted by the West Bank-based Arab World Organization for Research and Development among 1,500 people in the Gaza Strip and West Bank, also found that less than a quarter of Gazans still support Hamas, which has ruled the Gaza Strip since 2007.
“Hamas is now less popular among residents living in shelters, tents and makeshift communities,” AWRAD president Nadar Said told NBC News.
The Hamas-run Health Ministry in Gaza, which does not distinguish between civilians and combatants, said the death toll in the strip since October surpassed 38,000 this week.
Leaked messages from Yahya Sinwar, Hamas’s most senior official in Gaza, revealed a ruthless and calculating leader who viewed the deaths of Palestinian civilians as a “necessary sacrifice” to continue the war with Israel.
Recent surveys have shown that support for Hamas in Gaza is waning, while the popularity of Iran-backed militants in the West Bank is soaring.
“They see Hamas as resilient. They see Hamas as strong,” Saied said.

“They see them as representing someone who will not sacrifice Palestinian rights and give in to Israel.”
As the war with Israel escalates, Gaza residents have openly blamed its leaders for the spiralling death toll, despite reports that Hamas has abused, tortured and executed Gaza residents for years.
