Death Threats Directed at Family of Murder Victim

Supporters of Carmelo Anthony have reportedly sent menacing messages to the family of Austin Metcalf, a high school athlete who was murdered. Disturbingly, one message suggested that Metcalf’s surviving twin, Hunter, should have faced a similar fate, according to information from TMZ.

Following Anthony’s conviction for first-degree murder, which occurred on a Tuesday, allegations of threats against the Metcalf family emerged online.

The tragic incident unfolded when the twins, then 17, were at a high school track meet on April 2, 2025. Anthony, who was not part of the team, was asked to leave the area but became aggressive, ultimately fatally stabbing Austin Metcalf.

As a consequence of his actions, Anthony received a sentence of 35 years.

However, since the sentencing, the Metcalf family has faced a wave of alarming messages on their phones, as reported by TMZ.

One alleged message stated, “You’re just angry because Austin is no longer alive. Hunter should have stabbed him too…he messed around and realized.”

The threats reportedly include promises to visit the Metcalf home to instill fear. Authorities are aware of these violent communications.

This hostility seems to be a broader issue linked to the high-profile case. A separate incident recently went viral, showing a man on a bicycle attacking a man and woman at a public transit stop. The assailant struck the seated man, questioning whether he served as a juror during the trial.

The victim’s friends quickly defended him, asserting he was a military veteran and had no involvement in jury matters. The attacker fled the scene on his bike, making threatening remarks as he left. Local police are looking into the incident.

Additionally, another supporter of Anthony was arrested after a violent confrontation outside the Texas courthouse, with accusations of illegal firearm possession after footage from the incident was released.

Currently, Anthony, who is 36, is awaiting transfer to a state prison where he will serve his lengthy sentence. However, there’s a possibility he could be released in about 17 years. He has also filed an appeal against his sentence.
