According to reports:
The Supreme Court delivered a decisive win for President Trump, allowing for the deportation of eight migrants from Djibouti to South Sudan—something not included in the initial order.
In a brief, unsigned decision, the justices endorsed the administration’s clarification request, confirming that a prior ruling from a lower court—which was put on hold—also impeded another relief order from May 21.
This relief order mandated that migrants receive notice and a chance to claim protection under the treaty against torture before being sent to another country.
The court stated, “The motion for clarification is granted. The May 21 correction order cannot enforce an injunction now rendered unenforceable.”
Interestingly, Justice Elena Kagan, known for her liberal viewpoints, sided with the court’s conservatives on this matter.
In another report:
Kagan expressed her support but noted her disagreement with the Supreme Court’s earlier decision allowing removals to a third country.
She mentioned that it seemed unreasonable for the district court to try to enforce compliance with an order that the Supreme Court had previously stayed.
Attorney General Pamela Bondy hailed the ruling on social media, emphasizing the hard work of a DOJ lawyer and proclaiming that Trump continues to exercise his authority to eliminate dangerous offenders.
Trump’s successful phase seems to be ongoing.
