Supreme Court rejects Missouri effort to block gag order against Trump

The Supreme Court denied a petition to intervene and rule on a lawsuit filed by the state of Missouri seeking to temporarily block proceedings in New York v. former President Trump.

Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas said they would grant the state’s request to file the complaint but would not grant the other relief the state sought.

“The Missouri Attorney General has filed a lawsuit against the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia,” said David Gelman, a lawyer representing President Donald Trump. [the Supreme Court] To thwart legal proceedings. That’s what we call ‘thinking outside the box.'”

“This still does not mean that a ruling will be made in September, and if it does happen, it will likely be appealed sooner than Democrats can get Biden elected,” he said.

Asked about Biden’s Supreme Court proposal, Gorsuch responded sternly: “Be careful.”

The lawsuit was filed by Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey, a Republican who is seeking to fill the seat for a full term this fall.

“It is disappointing that the Supreme Court has not exercised its constitutional responsibility to resolve state-vs-state disputes,” Bailey said in a post on X. “I will continue my lawsuit against Kamala Harris and Joe Biden’s Department of Justice for orchestrating the unlawful prosecution of President Trump.”

Trump was convicted by a New York jury in May on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records.

“The investigation and subsequent prosecution of former President Donald J. Trump appears to have been conducted in coordination with the United States Department of Justice,” Bailey argued, adding that he believes that assertion is partially substantiated by the Justice Department’s actions. Trump.

Additionally, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg New York Attorney General Bailey noted that Letitia James filed a civil lawsuit against Trump and used her experience as a springboard to campaign in support of her current positions.

Bailey argued that Bragg’s decision to prosecute “had the effect of keeping former President Trump in office, despite its obvious weaknesses.” Away from election campaigns, President Biden bragged about it.”

“Given the timing (Bragg charged Trump after Trump announced his candidacy for president), the apparent weakness of the charges, and the effect they would have on Trump distancing himself from the campaign trail, there is every reason to suspect that the Biden Administration was coordinating with Bragg and others to prosecute Trump,” Bailey argued.
