A surgeon whistleblower says his savings were “wiped out” by his lawyers after he revealed secret procedures being performed on children at a Texas hospital.
Dr. Ethan Heim, former Texas Children's Hospital surgeon, Said Fox News reported that he had to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to respond to the investigation against him.
The doctor is reportedly the whistleblower responsible for releasing documents that show the hospital was not complying with Texas' ban on transgender surgeries on minors.
Texas law prohibits prescribing puberty blockers or hormones to children.
Texas Children's Hospital reportedly said it would not provide such procedures to minors, but Dr. Heim allegedly came forward as a whistleblower and exposed the hospital's misconduct. The documents were given to journalist Christopher Rufo.
The documents say the children's hospital has never complied with Texas law. In one instance, a doctor allegedly surgically inserted a drug-delivery implant into her 11-year-old patient.
Dr. Heim told Laura Ingraham that documents alleging that the children's hospital had engaged in such conduct would soon be released, and that federal agents from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) arrived at his home to report that he was He said he was given a letter from the Department of Justice. “Potential target'' of “new criminal investigation.''
The doctor has since spent hundreds of thousands of dollars fighting the investigation, reportedly “wiping out all his savings.'' Dr. Heim has since launched the GiveSendGo campaign and continues to fight the investigation.
After Ingraham asked, “Why are you saying they're coming after you?” Dr. Heim Said:
“I wish I had a good answer for that, but I honestly couldn't. Your guess is probably as good as mine,” Haim responded, adding that HHS's “ideological capture” and transgender -Added that he believed this was a “politically motivated investigation” due to its ideological commitments.
Dr. Heim believes he is being pursued by federal authorities for “telling the truth” about transgender procedures performed at Texas Children's Hospital.
“It's because I told the truth. That's one thing. If you rebel against the dominant political ideology, they will come after you,” the surgeon said. “At some point, we have to fight it.”
