Trump and Mamdani: An Unexpected Meeting
At first look, President Donald Trump and New York City Mayor-elect Zoran Mamdani seem to have little in common. Politically, they appear to be on opposite ends of the spectrum. Sure, they might share concerns about issues like the affordability crisis, but their solutions differ significantly.

Recently, both sides have been targeting each other rather harshly, either directly or through various campaign representatives. Ahead of the New York City election, some Republicans and MAGA supporters labeled Mamdani a jihadist intent on imposing Islamic law in the city. Conversely, Mamdani, despite his meeting with Trump, has referred to the president as a fascist and a tyrant.
Talking to political opponents is something I always support. I commend President Trump for meeting with New York City’s new mayor, Zoran Mamdani.
I encourage the President to extend the same courtesy to true political allies of liberty and the Constitution.

However, the meeting on Friday turned out to be surprisingly positive, at least from Trump’s perspective. He remarked afterward, “We had a great meeting. A really great, very productive meeting. We all have one thing in common: We want this city that we love to do well.”
Let’s be real—these two aren’t exactly best buddies. But they managed to put their past differences aside for a day to engage in some constructive dialogue.
What stands out here is a pretty commendable trait. You know, resolving issues quickly and moving forward. It seems that guys tend to let things slide unless there’s been a significant betrayal, unlike some friendships that can get bogged down over minor grievances.
In many cases, women may hold onto feelings of resentment for years, sometimes struggling to move past perceived slights. No offense intended, but that dynamic can feel different.
Ultimately, Trump and Mamdani are just two guys. They can throw insults back and forth for months, yet when it matters, they can share a day, setting aside their differences. Friday’s meeting proved just that. Sometimes, it really is about looking beyond the surface.
