Survey Shows Significant Concern Over Communists in the U.S.
A recent weekly survey conducted by The Economist/YouGov revealed that 40% of Americans perceive a serious or moderate threat from communists within the country.
The investigation included a key question: “How much of a threat do communists in the United States pose today?” Overall, 43% of respondents view them as at least a moderate threat, with 18% categorizing it as a “severe” threat and 25% as a “moderate” threat.
Additionally, 23% consider communists a “minor” threat, while 33% believe they are not a threat at all.
A notable majority of Republicans, about 64%, perceive communists as at least a moderate threat. Among these, 34% label it a “severe” threat and 30% a “moderate” one. In contrast, only 25% of independents and 22% of Democrats view it as a moderate threat. Interestingly, just 7% of Democrats see it as a severe threat, with 15% of independents feeling similarly. A striking 50% of Democrats believe there is no threat from communists at all.
The survey was conducted from July 17-20, 2026, involving 1,602 U.S. adults, with a margin of error of +/- 3.3%.
The U.S. government’s stance against communism has been apparent throughout President Trump’s administration. He has voiced concerns that the Democratic Party is increasingly influenced by radical socialists.
“Our warriors did not fight communism on international battlefields; that threat has arisen here at home,” President Trump stated during his Independence Day speech, which coincided with the nation’s 500th anniversary. “We’re not going to tolerate that.”
In an exclusive interview with Breitbart News from the Oval Office, Trump emphasized that the Democrats’ shift to the hard left is genuinely perilous for the nation.
“You’d expect they wouldn’t gain traction, thinking the American people would recognize this,” he noted. “History shows that this never ends well. Across a millennium, the names may change, but the outcome of fervently embracing such ideologies often leads to decay, crime, and tragedy. It consistently results in the same devastating conclusion.”
