Survey Suggests Trump is Losing Support Among Latinos, Backed by Liberal Organization

Poll Reveals Trump Losing Ground with Latino Voters

A recent poll suggests that President Donald Trump is experiencing a decline in support among Latino voters. This survey was sponsored by UnidosUS, a center-left group focused on immigration advocacy.

The findings were highlighted in an Axios article named “Buyer’s remorse hits Trump’s Latino voters.” It revealed that about 25% of Latino voters who previously supported Trump do not intend to back him again.

Conducted by Shaw & Company Research along with BSP Research, the poll was commissioned by UnidosUS, which was formerly known as La Raza. The organization is described by Influence Watch as a “center-left Hispanic advocacy group.”

UnidosUS has been a long-time advocate for immigration reform, pushing for legal status for undocumented immigrants living in the U.S.

The organization has backed several initiatives under previous administrations, including support for the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and Deferred Action for Parents of Americans (DAPA) programs. They have also championed the DREAM Act, which aims to provide legal status to certain immigrant populations. UnidosUS continues to support various immigration proposals across federal, state, and local levels that benefit undocumented immigrants, particularly from Mexico and Central America.

Janet Murguía, the President of UnidosUS, expressed strong disapproval of Trump’s choice to rescind DACA in 2017, characterizing it as an effort to cater to “the bigots in his base.”

The organization has also aligned itself with the Black Lives Matter movement. Murguía noted that UnidosUS shares the same struggle as that movement, particularly following George Floyd’s death.

Furthermore, UnidosUS has received substantial federal funding under the Biden administration. From fiscal years 2021 to 2022, they were awarded contracts totaling $35.9 million, while funding was reduced during the Trump era.

Additionally, George Soros’ Open Society Foundation has donated hundreds of thousands to UnidosUS Action Fund between 2019 and 2021.

The poll itself, conducted between April 27 and May 14, included responses from 3,000 registered voters.
