Survivors from the Nova Music Festival attack have reacted to remarks made by Zoran Mamdani, who labeled Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a “war criminal.” They described the New York mayor’s comments as “dangerous.”
Mazar Tazazo expressed her thoughts in a video shared by radio host Jason Luntz. In it, Mamdani voiced his support for the International Criminal Court’s position that Netanyahu ought to be arrested for his actions. He urged the federal government to execute an arrest warrant during Netanyahu’s upcoming visit to New York for the United Nations General Assembly in September.
Tazzazo mentioned, “I was shocked when I saw that video today. It’s really dangerous.” She then elaborated, “What’s happening there isn’t genocide. People have died, yes, and it’s terrible. But why? Because the terrorists hide behind civilians.” She highlighted that Hamas often uses civilian buildings to shield their operations.
Mamdani noted that his administration is exploring whether New York City holds the legal authority to arrest Netanyahu, should he attend the UN General Assembly.
“If you want to truly understand the situation, come here,” Tazzazo stated, introducing herself as a survivor of the Nova event. “You can visit Israel. No one will arrest you there. Come listen to our stories.”
Luntz condemned Mamdani’s statements, with Tazzazo agreeing that threats to arrest Netanyahu were unacceptable.
Mamdani reiterated, “We investigated our legal options regarding the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrant. However, it’s evident we lack the authority to enforce it. The federal government can, and I urge them to collaborate with the ICC.”
He declared that Netanyahu is responsible for a series of atrocities, claiming his actions led to the deaths of over 73,000 individuals, caused severe injuries to countless children, and obstructed crucial humanitarian aid.
