Authorities have reportedly released the identity of the suspect who attacked and beat actor Steve Buscemi while he was out for a walk in Manhattan on Wednesday morning.
On Tuesday night, the NYPD said the man who allegedly punched Buscemi in the face was Clifton Williams, 50, Fox 5 New York reported.
66 years old Star of ‘Fargo’ and ‘Boardwalk Empire’ He was assaulted just before noon in midtown Manhattan and was taken to a nearby hospital with bruises, swelling and bleeding over his left eye.
Witnesses told local broadcaster ABC7 that Buscemi chased Williams but was unable to stop him.

After the attack, a spokesperson for Buscemi confirmed the assault to Fox News Digital.
“Steve Buscemi was assaulted in Midtown Manhattan, becoming another victim of random acts of violence in the city. He’s okay and we wish everyone the best, but something like this It’s incredibly sad for everyone that this happened.” [him] while walking the streets of New York,” a spokesperson for Buscemi previously told FOX News Digital.

The New York City Police Department released a statement Wednesday about the assault, but did not name Buscemi.
Brooklyn-born Buscemi is a beloved figure in New York and is a former New York firefighter who helped his old team at Ground Zero during the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center.
