Mohamed Sabrie Soliman, a suspected terrorist from Boulder, Colorado, reportedly tried to purchase a firearm for an attack but was denied due to his non-citizen status.
According to reports, Soliman, who is an undocumented immigrant, allegedly used homemade flamethrowers against supporters of Israel during a rally on Sunday afternoon. This event, which lasted about 18 minutes, was aimed at showing solidarity with hostages taken following the October 7 attacks.
Initial reports indicated that around eight people were hurt in the incident, but recent updates suggest that the number of injuries has increased to twelve.
It has been highlighted that after being turned down for the gun purchase, Soliman shifted his focus to using Molotov cocktails.
After his capture, Soliman reportedly mentioned that he had learned to shoot guns in a concealed carry class but had to alter his plans for the attack because his immigration status prevented him from buying a firearm.
In August 2024, it was reported that a panel of judges in the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed that undocumented immigrants do not possess Second Amendment rights.
Following his arrest, Soliman is said to have revealed that he had spent a year planning the attack on Sunday.
He allegedly expressed a desire to kill all “Zionist people,” indicating a broader intention of violence.
