Recent Assassination Attempts Against Donald Trump
Nine weeks after Thomas Matthew Crooks attempted to assassinate Donald Trump at a Pennsylvania rally on July 13, 2024, another case arose. This time, Ryan Routh tried to assassinate then-candidate Trump at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Cole Allen, who opened fire during the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner recently, bears striking similarities to Routh.
“I’m just a random guy from California,” Allen reportedly stated.
Both Allen and Routh not only donated to the same political party but also maintained connections to the same foreign entity. Routh, who has been sentenced to life in prison for his attempt on Trump’s life, seems to reflect a broader trend of radicalization, influenced by inflammatory rhetoric from Democrats.
Political Donations and Rhetoric
Routh, 60, from North Carolina, hadn’t been registered with a political party for several decades but began donating to the Democratic Party in 2019. He actively participated in the North Carolina Democratic primary in March 2024.
His support for Democrats extended beyond financial contributions—Routh backed many of the party’s controversial causes. High-profile Democrats, including former Vice President Kamala Harris, depicted Trump and other Republicans as fascists and threats to democracy ahead of the 2024 election. They often claimed, “democracy is on the ballot in November.”
Harris even made unsettling comments about Trump’s death back in 2018, framing the fight for democracy as essential. President Biden, in a particularly blunt address to donors on July 8, 2024, emphasized the need for strict scrutiny of Trump, stating, “We’re done talking about debates.”
Routh seemed to embrace these alarming views, frequently echoing Democratic slogans. In a tweet from April 22, 2024, directed at Biden, he suggested renaming the campaign something like “Keep America Democratic and Free,” suggesting that failure was not an option.
Allen, too, made small contributions to Democratic causes, notably a PAC supporting Harris during the 2024 election cycle. Reports indicated that Allen had engaged politically and was part of left-leaning groups that spread intense anti-Trump sentiments.
According to an investigative journalist, Allen shared numerous alarmist posts about notable Democratic figures online, expressing discontent with Trump’s associations with Russian leadership.
Obsession with Ukraine
Both Routh and Allen showcased an obsession with Ukraine. Routh was particularly vocal, running a website that facilitated recruiting mercenaries for the conflict and even collaborating with Western defense officials.
- He actively supported Ukraine’s Azov Brigades.
- In 2023, he authored a self-published book titled “Ukraine’s Unwinnable War.”
- In statements on social media, Routh claimed he’d fight for Ukraine until his last breath.
Allen, likewise, had an online presence reflecting a similar fixation, stating on a profile that he was just a random guy sharing his thoughts about American politics and aid to Ukraine.
This user was not just critical of Trump but also directed anger toward individuals like Vice President J.D. Vance, especially after Vance voiced opposition to funding the war in Ukraine, implying betrayal of commitments.
Allen’s social media accounts included remarks that hinted at violent action, suggesting he would “no longer allow” certain behaviors to go unchecked.
