Authorities have apprehended four individuals suspected of involvement in a series of home burglaries in Southern California, including a recent incident at actor Brad Pitt’s residence in Los Angeles.
The Los Angeles Police Department announced the detention of these suspects in connection with a robbery that took place in the 2300 block of North Edgemont Street. While the identity of the homeowner hasn’t been officially confirmed, various media reports suggest it is indeed Pitt, who acquired the property earlier this year, according to a real estate source.
No specifics have been shared about the circumstances surrounding the arrests.
Pitt’s representative chose not to comment on the situation. A spokesperson for the LAPD indicated that officers received a call on June 25th around 10:30 PM. Reports mention that three individuals accessed the property by altering a fence, entering the yard, breaking through a front window, and subsequently ransacking the home.
It has been reported that the burglars took multiple items before fleeing the scene. Notably, Pitt was not home during this burglary, as he was promoting his film “F1.”
While law enforcement has not provided extensive information, the arrests mark a significant action in what seems to be a broader pattern of thefts targeting affluent individuals. The LAPD mentioned they could not confirm any connections to other crimes at this time.
Interestingly, Pitt’s ex-wife, Jennifer Aniston, experienced a similar scare in May when a man breached the gates of her Bel Air property while she was at home. There have been other high-profile thefts, such as the robbery of Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban on Valentine’s Day, and an attempted break-in at Dodgers pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s residence on July 30th. Last August, properties belonging to Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson were also reportedly targeted.
