Police Standoff at Children’s Hospital Ends in Tragedy
A police standoff at a children’s hospital concluded tragically Thursday morning, revealing some unusual details about the incident.
Law enforcement in Dallas was searching for a man with an active warrant and tracked him to the parking lot of the Children’s Health Hospital late that night.
“He had a gun. He pointed the gun at the officer,” police reported.
The suspect, identified as Mike King, allegedly entered the parking area, secluded himself inside his vehicle, and refused to exit. According to Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeau, officers used tear gas to try and coax him out of the car.
When he eventually exited, he had a gun and aimed it at an officer, prompting the officer to return fire, Comeau stated.
Despite efforts by SWAT medical services to provide assistance, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Notably, he displayed a firearm but did not shoot, and fortunately, no officers sustained injuries.
It has been reported that King was a longstanding member of Texas Democratic Representative Jasmine Crockett’s security team and had appeared with her at various events.
Interestingly, he is said to have received a payment of $340 for “security services” linked to Crockett in March 2025, with several photographs of him alongside her emerging from different occasions.
The man was wanted for impersonating a law enforcement officer and allegedly had operated a replica police vehicle while using stolen license plates from a military recruiting office.
Further investigations revealed that “Mike King” was likely an alias; he reportedly used multiple names while associated with an off-duty police service that connected North Texas officers to extra jobs.
Sources indicated that King also had a criminal background. Representative Crockett’s office has not commented on this situation, and inquiries have been made for further clarification. Police have yet to disclose his real identity.
