Swimmers injured in terrifying ‘freak accident’

Five swimmers were electrocuted to death at an Indiana pool Sunday afternoon in what police described as a “freak accident.”

Police said officers, firefighters and medical personnel responded to a home in the 2600 block of High Street in Logansport, Indiana, just after 2:30 p.m.

Five people, including two adults and three minors, were injured and taken to local hospitals, police said.

Medical personnel transported both boys to another hospital for further treatment.

A spokesman for the Logansport Police Department said in Indianapolis Fox 59 as an “accident.”

Police determined that the pool pump’s wires were pinched and the protective cover broke, exposing the wires and touching the pool water, electrocuting five swimmers, according to the sheriff’s office.

Logansport is located in northern Indiana, about a 90-minute drive north of Indianapolis.
