The 2025 NFL Draft has a new quarterback to add to the board.
Syracuse quarterback Kyle McCord announced After a strong season with the Orange, he announced Friday that he will declare for this year's NFL Draft.
McCord's decision followed speculation that he would seek an NCAA waiver of eligibility, which would have allowed him to play one more season of college football.
His transfer effectively ends what has been a “crazy journey” for McCord, who compiled a 22-4 record at Syracuse University and Ohio State.
McCord led the FBS this season with 4,779 passing yards and led Syracuse to its first 10-win season since 2018.
“I think the biggest thing for me, of course, was that I felt like I had a really good year.” McCord told ESPN.. “Given how everything unfolded naturally and what I'm hearing in terms of feedback in the draft, it made sense to make the move after weighing all options.”
McCord, 22, ranked fourth in the nation with 34 touchdown passes and led Syracuse to a victory over Washington State in the Holiday Bowl.
“The biggest thing is how grateful I am to Syracuse for bringing me,” McCord told ESPN. “Thank you to my coaches, teammates and fans.”
McCord joins a quarterback draft class that includes Alabama's Jalen Milroe, Miami's Cam Ward and Colorado's Shedule Sanders.
McCord's decision came just hours after Georgia QB Carson Beck withdrew his NFL draft declaration and opted to transfer to Miami, effectively replacing Ward.
Texas QB Quinn Ewers also indicated Friday that he plans to enter the draft after the season.
The 2025 NFL Draft is scheduled to be held from April 24th to 26th at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
