TD Jakesthe founder of the Potter House recently revealed that the “slight health incident” he suffered on stage in November 2024 was in fact a massive heart attack.
“You know, I didn't really realize what was going on stage until I got to the hospital by ambulance. [I was] Incidentally, what happened on stage was a fuss and I didn't,” Jakes told NBC's Craig Melvin. “Today” show Wednesday.
“The doctor leaned against my ear and said, 'You had a massive heart attack.' And I had no symptoms that they said.
Jakes, emotionally returning to the pulpit on New Year's Eve, further explains how his mind stopped while he was preaching, Christian Post It has been reported.
“he [the doctor] Five minutes later I said I would have been dead upon arrival. The right side of my heart had stopped giving me blood at all. As far as I was preaching, I was fine. As I sat down, my adrenaline fell, revealing the fact that I was preaching half of my heart with a blood clot closed, Jakes explained. “They had to get it.”
According to the Megachurch pastor, Jakes argued that it suggested he had a glimpse into the afterlife.
“In my mind, I was in a quiet, peaceful, calm, white enveloped space, cloudy,” he explained. “I was on my way out. Then looking back, it was a very privilege to stand on the other side to get a little glimpse into what it was like… I think it's absolutely amazing.”
Jakes' comments also come as he is currently facing a honour-loss lawsuit amid allegations of sexual assault and misconduct. Last month, 57-year-old Timothy Anderson of Manatee County, Florida, claimed that Jakes tried to kiss him while he was a youth pastor in the 1990s.
Meanwhile, Pastor Richard Youngblood and his brother, Duane Youngblood, allegedly sexually assaulted Jakes when he was young. Honorary am loss lawsuit Against Duane last year. Jakes added that he doesn't know if the accuser against him will make further claims against him.
“I don't know where we are now. I don't know what looks last year and how many black celebrities and celebrities in general had to endure this kind of thing, where we are now,” Jakes said Wednesday.
“I think there are times when it's hopeless… People do things that are hopeless, and they put forward a motion to dismiss it. So far, it's been denied. We've submitted 600 pages of information.
