Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, KFC pull onions after McDonald’s E.coli outbreak

Yum Brands announced Thursday that it will remove raw onions from meals at some Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants as an “out of caution” following an E. coli outbreak linked to McDonald's Quarter Pounder burgers.

An E. coli outbreak has killed at least one person and sickened nearly 50 people in the West and Midwest.

McDonald's has new onions in Colorado, Kansas, Utah, Wyoming, and some areas in Idaho, Iowa, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, and Oklahoma. Removed Quarter Pounder from the menu.

The Food and Drug Administration has identified Taylor Farms onions as a “possible source of contamination” and launched an investigation into the supplier, CNBC reported Thursday.

Yum Brands stock fell less than 1% on Thursday.
