Taiwanese Boxer Who Failed IBA Gender Test Defeats Female Opponent at Paris Olympics

Another controversial boxer who had been disqualified by the International Boxing Association (IBA) won against a female opponent at the Paris Olympics on Friday.

Taiwan’s Lin Yuting stepped into the ring. Easy win She won by unanimous decision against Uzbekistan’s Shitra Turdibekova. Daily Mail report.

Turdybekova was in tears after the match and neither woman shook hands or congratulated each other before leaving the ring.

Lin Yuting is the second of two boxers allowed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to compete as a woman, despite being stripped of her eligibility by the international boxing organisation last year from official matches after failing an International Boxing Association (IBA) gender test.

The first athlete to fail the IBA’s chromosome test, Imane Kherif, was overpowered by Italian boxer Angela Carini, who withdrew from Thursday’s bout after just 46 seconds in the ring.

According to Russia’s TASS news agency, International Boxing Association (IBA) president Umar Kremlev explained the organisation’s decision to strip Taiwan’s Lin Yu-ting and Algeria’s Imane Kherif of eligibility to compete in the IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in 2023. “Based on DNA tests, it became clear that several athletes had tried to deceive their colleagues by posing as women. The tests proved that they have XY chromosomes. Such athletes have been excluded from competition,” Kremlev said. Said.

The IBA added that the rule changes for 2022 were to ensure “fairness of the competition and the safety of athletes.” The IOC decided to apply the 2016 rules that allowed boxers to compete in women’s competitions. The IOC then condemned the “aggression” of those who questioned their right to compete as women.

“We have become aware of misleading information being published about two female athletes who will compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics,” the company said in a statement. Joint statement “Both athletes have competed in international boxing competitions for many years in the women’s category, including the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, the International Boxing Association (IBA) World Championships and other IBA-sanctioned tournaments,” the statement said.

“The current attack against these two athletes is based entirely on this arbitrary decision, made without due process, especially considering that these two athletes have competed at the top level of competition for many years,” the statement added.
