Travis Kelce and the Super Bowl Buzz
As the 2026 Super Bowl approaches, discussions around Travis Kelce have intensified.
The Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end has faced retirement speculation since the season wrapped up. Yet, those close to him seem to think he’s gearing up for at least another season, according to The Athletic’s Deanna Russini.
In the meantime, Kelce has been spotted at various gatherings in San Francisco leading up to the big event.
While no definitive choice has been made regarding his future, his presence during this crucial time has raised questions about whether he’s preparing for a 14th season.
It appears the Chiefs are ready to welcome him back as well. Team owner Clark Hunt mentioned on “Good Morning Football” that he hopes to give Kelce the freedom to revisit any decisions, expressing his belief that the 36-year-old still has more to contribute before considering retirement.
“He had another great year, maybe not quite at the level from four or five years ago, but still over 800 yards and a key player on our offense,” Hunt stated earlier in the week.
“There’s no doubt in my mind he can still play. We’re aiming to be respectful and allow him the time he needs to decide.”
Kelce’s fitness hasn’t been optimal in recent seasons.
The Chiefs narrowly missed a three-peat last year, falling to the Eagles in the Super Bowl.
Despite this, Kansas City marked their 10th consecutive playoff appearance last season. Kelce managed to improve his stats, recording 851 yards and five touchdowns, up from 823 yards and three touchdowns in 2024.
That said, the past two challenging seasons might weigh heavily on many in the sports arena.
It’s a significant choice, one of several Kelce will face this offseason.
Additionally, the 11-time Pro Bowler is set to tie the knot with pop sensation Taylor Swift after proposing ahead of the 2025 season.
Kelce’s decision could also be swayed by offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy’s return, following the expiration of Matt Nagy’s contract. Bieniemy has celebrated two Super Bowl victories with the Chiefs in 2019 and 2022.
