A Great Dane and a tiny Chihuahua recently made headlines during a play date organized by Guinness World Records. This unique encounter saw Reginald, known as “Reggie,” who is seven years old and from Idaho, meet Pearl, a four-year-old Chihuahua from Florida.
Reggie, the tallest living dog, measures an impressive 3 feet, 3 inches. Even as a puppy, he was larger than many other Great Danes. On the other hand, Pearl, who holds the title for the shortest living dog at just 3.59 inches, can comfortably fit in a person’s palm and comes from a lineage of small Chihuahuas.
According to Pearl’s owner, Vanessa Semler, the two dogs were an unlikely pair but surprisingly got along well during their two-day visit. She mentioned that upon seeing Reggie, she was pleasantly surprised, stating, “He’s very kind and very friendly.”
Reggie’s owner, Sam Johnson Reese, shared that the Great Dane enjoys socializing but was a little cautious around Pearl. He noted that Reggie was careful not to step on her, showing a gentle demeanor despite his size.
The dogs were filmed sharing treats and playfully sniffing each other, with Reggie’s mouth appearing nearly the size of Pearl’s entire body. It seems that the play date was quite a delightful experience for both dogs and their owners.
Vanessa reflected on the encounter, expressing that Pearl likely gained a good friend. “It seemed like a truly exciting experience,” she added.
