Tara Reid was taken away from a Chicago hotel on a stretcher after her drink was reportedly tampered with, leaving her disoriented and incoherent.
In footage obtained by TMZ, Reid, who was in Chicago for Comic-Con, appeared confused as multiple individuals assisted her into a wheelchair. She was slurring her words, showing signs of disorientation, and was seen clutching onto hotel guests for support before being seated.
Other clips showed paramedics carrying the “American Pie” star out of the hotel on a stretcher while bystanders expressed their concern and support.
According to sources, Reid had been at the hotel bar enjoying drinks and cigarettes. After stepping outside for a smoke, she returned to find a napkin atop her wine glass, which she thought was unusual since she didn’t recall placing it there.
She reportedly took a couple of sips from her wine and later woke up in a hospital. Her representative later collected her from the hospital, and they returned to Los Angeles together.
Insiders mentioned that Reid is shaken by the incident, particularly worried about the danger of leaving drinks unattended. “She has been left traumatized by what happened,” a source stated.
Reid’s representative confirmed that she is in the process of filing a police report regarding the suspected tampering of her drink. “Tara is recovering and requests privacy during this difficult time. We urge everyone to be cautious with their drinks, as this can happen to anyone. Further comments will not be made at this stage,” the representative added.
However, police reported that as of Monday, Reid had not yet filed her report.
Earlier in 2023, Reid spoke about the “bullying” she faced throughout her career. She expressed a desire to show a different side of herself on the reality show “Special Forces: The World’s Toughest Test,” feeling that she was often typecast as merely the party girl from “American Pie.” “I’m not just that 21-year-old girl at a party,” she said, reflecting on her journey and calling for a broader recognition of her strength and compassion.
Reid admitted that the negative attention had taken a toll on her, leading her to step back from the spotlight. “I needed a break. I think everyone needs a break when things get overwhelming,” she mentioned.
