Target facing blowback from Minneapolis LGBT Pride groups after axing DEI

Its diversity, fairness, and deciding to reduce the inclusion (DEI) program are filled with the rebound from the LGBTQ+community of the home turf of the Minneapolis book retailer.

The target ends the three -year goal of DEI on Friday, and has changed to a “Bullsuai” strategy, such as ending racial equity action and change (reach) initiative in 2025. We announced that it will be implemented.

Later, on the weekend, the organizer of Twin Cities Pride Festival (Target was a long -standing sponsor) stated that retailers were no longer welcome.

Andi Otto, an executive director of Twin Cities Pride, said that MPR News rolled back DEI's initiative and decided to start a target from this year's festival.

“In the current climate that we have to live as a community, I decided that having a target presence in pride and parade this year is not the biggest profit for the community,” Otto said. I told the outlet.

Twin Cities Pride also announced on social media that “a bold decision to say goodbye as a sponsor.”

At the time of this writing, the fundraising posted by the group won nearly $ 28,000 out of $ 50,000.

Target did not respond immediately to comment requests on Twin City Pride's decision.

The target announced a rollback of the DEI program following President Donald Trump's presidential order to review such an initiative.

This movement adds a target to the increase list of companies that scaling or excluding DEI efforts because these programs are exposed to an increase in scrutiny.

Many companies such as Amazon, Lowe's, Meta, McDonald's, American Airlines, and BoEing have brought DEI programs in the past year with pressure.

However, some companies, such as Costco, have reconfirmed their commitments to maintain the DEI policy by resisting activists' pressure.
