Target this Christian McCaffrey Super Bowl 2024 player prop

The 2024 Super Bowl will likely feature a variety of players who have anchored your fantasy football team at some point over the past five years.

It’s hard to question Christian McCaffrey at the top of that list.

The MVP candidate and rushing champion finished the season with over 100 rushing yards in seven games.

McCaffrey’s 21 total touchdown scores set the league on fire and set a new career high on an already Hall of Fame resume. He also led the running back position in red zone touches, yards gained, target share and route participation.

There aren’t enough characters to count out the rest of his numbers – you get the point.

This obviously means Kyle Shanahan will be feeding the ball left and right against the Chiefs, right? necessarily.

This team is too dynamic and smart to simply put the most effective player on the field and expect it to be enough against Andy Reid.

That’s not to say McCaffrey isn’t ready to make a big splash, but I’m going to back the under on his rushing attempt prop of 18.5 for several reasons.

The first is how Deebo Samuel uses the backfield. The versatile gadget receiver had three carries against the Lions, but the Chiefs were far less durable against the run.

McCaffrey has cleared that line in just 38.9 percent of his games this season. Oddsmakers had him at 18.5 attempts in the NFC Championship Game as well, finishing with 20, but he hadn’t hit 19 since the previous Thanksgiving.

I also wrote in last week’s Post that I thought we should see more of Brock Purdy’s scrambles here, given the positive impact he had throughout the playoffs.

McCaffrey’s active involvement in the passing game is also an invaluable element to this offense, so I expect Shanahan’s expansive playbook to replace it.
