As the 2024 season approaches, the NFL and Taylor Swift love story shows no signs of cooling off, despite some “Brad and Chad” scorn.
Several fans took to X on Monday to air their displeasure with the pop superstar, whose romance with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was highlighted in a 30-second promotional video released by the league.
“Please stop putting Taylor Swift on the air. We don't care.” Posted by X user.
Another person complained“Why are they putting Taylor Swift on the air five times? I thought this was football?”
Some fans pointed out that Ravens star quarterback Lamar Jackson, who was named MVP, appeared briefly in the video.
“The video features 2023 NFL MVP Lamar Jackson once and Taylor Swift five times.” X user commented.
“Fun fact: Taylor Swift appears more (5) times in this video than the literal MVP (1).” Another fan wrote:.
One user also wondered aloud: “Why does Taylor Swift appear in this video more than any of the actual players?”
Swift won Kelsey's heart. Some NFL viewers were delighted last year when the 14-time Grammy Award winner made her first appearance at Arrowhead Stadium during the Chiefs' Week 3 win over the Bears.
Her attendance at home and away games garnered attention, culminating in the Chiefs' Super Bowl win over the 49ers at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas in February.
Swift and Kelce, both 34, shared a kiss on the field after the Chiefs won their second consecutive championship.
While Swift enjoyed the game-day experience, which included secret handshakes with Chiefs WAGs and chugging drinks on the Jumbotron, she was aware of the increased attention last season.
“I'm just here to support Travis.” Swift said In an interview for Time magazine's Person of the Year in December 2023.
“I'm not even aware that I'm upsetting some of the dads, Brad and Chad, by showing too much of myself.”
The Chiefs open the season Thursday at home against the Ravens in an AFC Championship rematch.
It remains to be seen whether Swift, who cheered on Kelce when the Chiefs won the AFC title in January, will attend.
