February 6, 2026, marked a significant day for Team USA as they kicked off the Winter Olympics in Milan, eager to chase gold and make history. The delegation consisted of 232 athletes, the largest in U.S. history for the Winter Games. Following Team USA were Canada with 211, Italy, the host nation, with 195, and Germany with 189 athletes.

As they entered the grand ceremony, Team USA sported customized attire designed by renowned American fashion designer Ralph Lauren, which added a touch of national pride. The event was attended by Vice President J.D. Vance and his family, who supported the athletes from the stands.

Leading the team were flag bearers Erin Jackson, a three-time Olympian and Olympic gold medalist in the 500m, and Frank Del Duca, a bobsledder. Their selection by their teammates underscored the spirit of camaraderie within the team.

“It’s really a huge honor, and I’m so grateful to have been chosen, especially by my teammates,” Jackson remarked during a pre-ceremony press conference. “This moment represents not just me but my family, my teammates, my hometown, and everyone who believes in the power of sport. The Olympics are about connection and inspiration, and I’m proud to represent that on this stage.”

“It is an incredible honor to serve as the flag bearer for Team USA,” Del Duca shared in a statement. “To be chosen was quite a surprise. I’m thankful for the support from my teammates, coaches, and everyone who has helped me on this journey. With the Olympics being held in Italy, it carries even more significance for me, as nearly all of my family is of Italian descent. Leading Team USA in this setting is truly a great honor.”
