Ted Cruz and John Fetterman unite in their dislike for one 'evil' during a bipartisan discussion

Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and John Fetterman (D-Pa.) had a rare moment of agreement on “Hannity” Tuesday, as they both condemned anti-Semitism. Cruz commended Fetterman for his bravery in speaking out against anti-Semitism within his own party, noting the personal risks he faced for doing so.

This bipartisan discussion arose following the tragic shooting at Bondi Beach on December 14, which resulted in the deaths of 15 people. This incident occurred during a Hanukkah celebration, attended by about 1,000 individuals at Australia’s famous beach, according to officials.

Cruz emphasized that the shooting represented a disturbing trend in violence against Jewish individuals, saying, “What we saw at Bondi Beach is the latest manifestation of this evil.” Fetterman added that Jews should be able to celebrate holidays without fear for their lives.

In the aftermath of the incident, which Fetterman labeled a “horrific massacre,” another 42 people were injured, including two police officers. One of the deceased was reported to be a Holocaust survivor.

The Democrats underlined the necessity to confront anti-Semitism, and Cruz echoed this sentiment, strongly criticizing the deadly attack. He described it as “grotesque, evil, and dangerous, necessitating a unified response.”

Police in New South Wales arrested two suspects, a father and son. The father, aged 50, died, while his 24-year-old son remains hospitalized due to injuries sustained during the attack.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese described the assault as inspired by “Islamic State ideology,” a claim that Cruz supported by condemning radical Islamic terrorism, asserting that such attacks are part of a broader war against Western societies.

An inspiring act came from Ahmed al-Ahmed, who is credited with disarming one of the gunmen during the chaos. His heroic efforts, caught on video, drew widespread praise, with Albanese labeling him “Australia’s hero.”

Debate then shifted to the broader issue of anti-Semitic violence, with Israeli officials criticizing the Australian government for inadequate protections for the Jewish community. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed concerns that the current policies could, in fact, encourage such acts of hate.

Cruz and Fetterman also touched upon international relations, expressing support for former President Donald Trump’s military action against Iran’s nuclear facilities. Cruz insisted that the decision was crucial for American safety, while Fetterman remarked that he was one of the few Democrats who openly supported the action. Fetterman went on to critique the previous administration’s border policies, calling them a “disaster,” and pointed to the need for stringent immigration screening measures.

As they reflected on these pressing issues, it’s clear that both senators are navigating a complex landscape where danger, politics, and personal convictions intersect.
