Teddy Bridgewater is ready to return from the classroom to the playing field after leaving the NFL as a high school football coach.
Bridgewater, 32, told NFL Network immediately after the game. state championship winner He said he plans to return to the NFL while still coaching his alma mater, Miami Northwestern (Fla.).
“Let's see how [the] I might sign with a team or something for the next week and a half or two weeks of games.” Bridgewater said. “And then I went back to coaching high school football in February. So, we'll see.”
Bridgewater did not say which team he was considering joining, but he did seriously hint that he was going to get on a plane and discuss a contract.
Perhaps not coincidentally, the Lions posted a message of congratulations to Bridgewater on social media for winning the state championship.
Bridgewater played just one game for the Lions in 2023 against the Panthers. He didn't throw a pass.
Other teams that could hurt Bridgewater include benching Jameis Winston and turning to Dorian Thompson-Robinson, who threw for 540 yards, one touchdown, and seven interceptions in his NFL career. This includes the Cleveland Browns.
Other teams could be in on the action as well, including the Raiders, whose starter Aidan O'Connell is struggling with injuries and who may have to select Tim Boyle as their fourth starting quarterback on Sunday. This includes the unknown Giants.
The Titans also benched Will Levis.
Bridgewater was a first-round pick in 2014 and had an injury derailed the start of his career, but bounced back and became a solid “bridge” quarterback for the Saints, Panthers, Broncos and Dolphins.
