Teen Arrested After Stabbing Attack
Brandon Baker, a 17-year-old from Alabama, has been arrested following a horrific incident in which he allegedly killed his mother and seriously injured his father during a knife attack at their home.
On Sunday, Brandon was taken into custody on charges of murder and attempted murder after the violent confrontation that left his mother, Samantha Baker, 37, dead, and his father, Lance Baker, 46, severely injured and pleading for help.
Although police initially withheld the teen’s name due to his age, a neighbor from the Bradwyn County area confirmed his identity to a news source, identifying him as the oldest son of the couple.
Samantha’s social media pages corroborate her son’s age and show him as a high school senior. From her posts, it’s apparent that she cherished her family, sharing moments filled with joy, sometimes mentioning how fast her children were growing up. There were also posts about Brandon’s junior prom, where she expressed her concern for him maturing too quickly.
Before the incident, Samantha, a real estate agent, frequently shared family photos, showcasing their participation in local events like high school football games and church services. She once playfully remarked that their household was like a “show” where they all laughed together.
In a heartfelt birthday message to Brandon last September, she wrote about how quickly he was growing up while also humorously commenting on how he could be frustrating at times. Additionally, she expressed hopes that they would guide their sons to become honorable and caring individuals.
Emergency services discovered the couple outside their residence in the Bell Forest community, both with multiple stab wounds, around 9 PM that night. Reports indicate that Samantha was pronounced dead on the scene, while Lance, who sought help from neighbors with visible injuries, is currently in critical condition at a local hospital. Witnesses recounted hearing him scream that he didn’t want to die.
The couple had reportedly been arguing over discipline issues with Brandon prior to the incident, as they attempted to escape his attack.
After the attack, Brandon allegedly barricaded himself inside the house and called 911. It’s noteworthy that his younger brother was not home during the violent outbreak.
Following his arraignment on Monday, Brandon is being held on a $1 million bail and will be tried as an adult.
